For beginner and professional tarot readers alike.
1. The Tarot is designed to deepen the human experience.
The tarot industry is just that; an industry. It is not the tool itself. Marketability is not the same as the product itself. The lifeblood of the tarot industry has always been future predictions. This might work to attract clients, but it won't make you a great tarot reader. In my experience; using the tarot to predict future events has always been shotty. It's what draws people in, but it's not the greatest tarot has to offer. Future predictions happen! But that's not where the reading ends, and it's not what makes them pack a punch. Tarot is designed to deepen the conscious experience of life. Its power is in the NOW. It will guide and inspire towards integration and challenge you to reach your ultimate potential.
Tarot is the best friend that will tell you like it is, and will not mince words! Sure; you could ask your best friend what they think is going to happen. Or ask them to snoop on someone and report back. However, that would be a terrible use of your trusted friend. Tarot is not a game; it's a tool. A tool that allows you to sort through life and innerstand your experience. There are plenty of ways to use the tarot. However, when you begin to work with the tarot as a respected tool; you will achieve a world of depth in your readings.
You can use a mop to sweep up, but that is not what it does best.

2. We must use it wisely.
Most believe that a psychic is someone who can read and tell the future. Some have the gift of prophecy, but even then, it's not as reliable as you think. Just like dreams; much of it may be symbolic, some may just refer to you, and some are referring to the world around you. Knowing what will happen tomorrow is of great comfort. However, it defeats the point of the incarnation. Nobody likes a spoiler. The same is true for life.
In my experience; great psychics, mediums, and tarot readers; help to ground you in your reality. Didn't expect that did you? We help you to see the bigger picture! To assist in understanding the higher purpose of your experience and to point towards possible integration, responsibility, and even; to remind you why you're here in the first place. At our best, we are the bridge between your human and your soul.
Placating to the client:
Wanting to prove my validity is one thing that I've had a very hard time working through. I'm hyper-sensitive to people's thoughts! In readings; I could feel their doubt, and questioning of the messages coming through me. This is the fastest way to lose your flow. You are in the driver's seat. Listen. Allow the client or querent to clarify. Just remember; you are just the messenger.
Simply remind yourself of why you do this work! If you are needing validation of your talent and ability in every session; you will dilute your potency, and you have some work to do. If you still struggle with this; write, or record your readings and send them instead of sitting with the client. Strengthen your flow and trust in yourself. You are not responsible for anything other than delivering the messages as clearly and confidently as possible. The only person you need to prove anything to; is YOU.
Compulsive card readings:
Becoming dependent on the tarot is another trap that readers and receivers find themselves in. When this happens you will likely lose touch. The tarot is meant to help deepen your human experience; not rule it. Pulling cards or getting readings before every potentiality is madness. When are we living?
It's comforting to have a trusted tool to help you navigate life, but sometimes you just gotta leap; and trust yourself. Tarot should help you to trust in yourself, not the opposite. Often; I see clients using the cards as an excuse not to do something. Don't even get me started on collective YouTube readings. When we dig a bit further; we usually find that the client was using the cards to validate their fears and distortions. If this is you; just take a break. Forget tarot exists for a little while. After some time; treat yourself to a reading on a schedule that is conservative. As a reader; dependency on the tarot is the #1 way to give your power away. Don't forfeit what makes you special. Wear the dress. Don't let the dress wear you.

3. It's Not Just you.
If you desire to go beyond the textbook meanings and develop the intuitive skills to use this tool; you must acknowledge that it's bigger than you. There is some power outside of just you. Are you setting an intention for who, or what is assisting you? Some people see these beings as their spirit guides or spirit team. Others see it as their oversoul. You don't necessarily need to believe in anything specific, to gain this support. Just something bigger than yourself. It could even be the universe! Trusting in the power of the tarot is pivotal. Respecting it as a mysterious, powerful tool is highly advised. You do not know everything and you will not interpret everything correctly. Honor something bigger than you, and you will gift yourself the journey of scaling your potency and talent as a reader. Also, Gifts and abilities; psychic or otherwise; are generational and ancestral. Honor your ancestors by continuing to transmute and heal. Your personal growth is pivotal to your success as a reader. Be about it.
